Philip was a deacon and evangelist who took the gospel to Samaria, an area formerly avoided by Jews who held the Samaritans in contempt. Many Samaritans followed Philip and experienced healings and deliverance from demons and were baptized. Peter and John cam down from Jerusalem to see if God would anoint the Samaritan believers with the Holy Spirit like the Jewish believers in Jerusalem. Peter and John prayed, and the Samaritans received the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit). This showed that God had plans for humanity that went beyond Israel. The Church had spread to Samaria, and two people groups formerly segregated had been brought together in Yeshua! But what happened when the magician, Simon, asked to buy Apostolic power?
