Saul (also called Paul) enters the picture. Saul was God's chosen instrument to spread the Gospel among the Gentiles and Jews, but that was not how it started. Saul had watched approvingly as Steven was stoned. Then, Saul became the chief architect of the persecution of the Church - throwing believers in prison where they were sentenced to death. Yet that all changed after an encounter on the road to Damascus. Who was Paul? Why did he hate the Church so much? And what could cause this ardent Jew to change his mind so completely after one encounter?
