Steven introduces the Gospel of John by exploring the book’s authorship and date of writing; Steven also examines the purpose statement found in John 20:30-31—to help John’s audience believe that Yeshua is the Messiah. Steven argues that John’s audience was both Gentile and Jewish (all churches in the first century were mixed). It has been argued that the Gospel of John is anti-Semitic. It is not; it is anti-Jewish-leadership. Both the protagonists and antagonists in this book are Jews.
